FEATURED ARTIST:
Today's featured artist is Myeuropeantouch by Monika
This is what she writes about herself:
I have been an artist all my life and worked with a lot of different mediums; been a mosaic artist for 8 years now. I specialize in doing mosaics using a style referred to as "Pique Assiette or Tesserae" This process involves transforming vintage china/porcelain plates into artistic designs that are always one of a kind and my own. About me, the Artist: Growing up in Germany shortly after WWII; watching my parents re-use, re-cycle, re-invent - my involvement in the arts developed very early at about 5 years of age. Trying to make new candles from candle stumps - melting them on my little doll cooking stove, using simple yarn for candle wicks; (almost burned the house down) clothing my dolls by sewing, crocheting, knitting and cross stitch. Creating clay vases, paint and draw in my family's home in Germany to now creating/working in my home in Florida. My interests and talents have evolved over time. Any type of art has been a constant presence in my life. After all this experimenting with my very diverse talents I have grown into and have a very addictive desire to create MOSAIC, done from precise cut/nipped vintage fine bone china/porcelain plates, paired with stained glass mosaic, vintage jewelry and other tidbits and baubles. My tools are Glass Nippers, Wheeled Cutters, Glue, Grout and Sealer; sometimes paint. I create from my thoughts, feelings and inspirations around me. I reclaim/re-invent unwanted items from various sources and breathe new life/usefulness in them, create functional, fabulous, or whimsy Mosaic Art. Never having attended a class/course for mosaic I can be called self taught. Every new piece I create is a discovery and revelation for me. I have sold many pieces of my mosaic art since I started 8 years ago. Some of my works are also displayed locally, including being invited and voted to be the Visual Artist at our Classical Concert Series. On commissioned Mosaic Art I always work with the client and involve them in "Their" Art Piece. I invite you to have a closer look, please, as I do use precise cut, nipped bone china porcelain plates that otherwise would have been dispersed off and give it a new life in form of a mosaic art piece. I have sold and shipped all over the world, Hong Kong, Australia, Bahrain, Great Britain to name a few. And of course all over the United States.
She has some very beautiful items in her Artfire shop! I love this ring and it is for a excellent price:

Today's featured artist is BlissfulGardenBeads By Heather Davis
Years ago someone tried to teach me how fire and glass could make beautiful beads like these pictured. The whole idea of using fire made me run. So now it is with great admiration I have for Heather doing her beautiful beads. They look just like the wonderful flowers found in a beautiful garden. What a talent she has to use fire and glass and come up with little works of art!
Can you imagine how beautiful these beads would be in your one of a kind piece of jewelry! No to are ever a like!

Get to know her:
I began painting and selling my work at 14 years old. I paint original art on canvas, board and bead. I paint because I am compelled - not painting is simply not an option for me. My earliest work and shows were in watercolor and acrylics. I then moved to oils in college. I began college at 15 years old and studied fine art and medieval studies at the University of Texas in San Antonio and Austin. I have lived and painted all over Texas and the Desert southwest, Boulder, Colorado, Anchorage, Alaska and finally settled down in the paradise of Santa Cruz, California. I have been working out of my studio in Santa Cruz creating canvas and bead now for over 15 years.
Painting to me is as much of a journey, a dialog with life as it is a thing that I do. It is how I see the world. It teaches me continually, and causes me to reach inside of myself and be better all the time.
My acrylic paintings are very symbolic in nature exploring the way I view the world internally, as metaphor. My Watercolors are external, expressing the way I view the natural world. For myself, watercolor lends itself to natural and spontaneous - acrylic to the symbol and storytelling.
My beads are painted with a porcupine quill on wood in a technique I developed myself then dipped in a proprietary mixture to protect it and give it that thick super shine wet paint look I love. I sell my beads individually and in jewelry creations that I approach like my paintings. Each one is a story, a unique and original design.

Tell me what you think of my new background! I love the colors of amber and gold together. It reminds me of a warm fire after a cold day in the snow or those beautiful summer nights camping around the fire. The vines in the picture are like gold spun in my jewelry. To me the background looks antique like the cameos in my jewelry, yet modern like the wire around those cameos.
Butterfly Cameo Ring Sterling SIlver
The band on this has a very unique twist to it! It was really fun to make and I think it adds to the beauty of the ring!
